World-Class Skiing and Snowboarding

Let’s start with signature Colorado: snow-skiing at some of the world’s finest resorts like Vail, Steamboat, Breckenridge and Aspen. Overall, Colorado boasts an amazing 26 ski resorts sprinkled across the state, from fun resorts that are perfect for a day trip from Denver to premier resorts with some of the deepest and most challenging powder on the planet.

Take your group to one of America’s best winter destinations and enjoy top-flight meeting facilities and a creative staff that can help make your retreat, conference or event something memorable. Meet in the morning and break out in the late morning or early afternoon for top-to-bottom skiing that will put smiles on the faces of all abilities and ages. At Colorado’s top resorts, you can ski all day and never take the same run twice. After you get in your turns on the mountain, gather for a cozy apres-ski with cocktails and light bites around the fireplace. In the evenings, get together for dinner at your pick of a lengthy list of four- or five-star restaurants.

Whitewater Rafting in Majestic Rivers

One of the most exciting summer experiences in the Centennial State is a thrilling journey down one of Colorado’s splendid rivers. There are excellent sections for whitewater on bigger rivers like the namesake Colorado River, Arkansas River and Rio Grande. There are also thrilling runs on smaller rivers like the Green River and North Platte River. You can raft at higher elevation destinations near Aspen and Vail, and there are even exciting floaters at lower elevations near Denver and in the central and southwest part of the state.

Whitewater rafting is an incredible team-building activity that requires cooperation, communication, patience and following directions. It’s also great exercise and helps build camaraderie. From mid-June through early September, group planners can schedule half-day and full-day outings on the river that includes a raft, life vests, and a seasoned river guide who will lead your team in the water. Along the way, there’s plenty of smiles, splashes, laughs and a few spots that might make your heart race. Many of the state’s best outfitters offer everything from mild float trips for all ages to more intense sections that are filled with non-stop action.

Championship Golf Courses

Teeing up at one of the Colorado’s premier Championship golf courses makes for an unforgettable round for your group or leadership team. There are excellent courses around Colorado Springs and Denver that have tough course play and a beautiful backdrop of the Rocky Mountains in the distance. Higher in the mountains, step into the tee box surrounded by vivid evergreen trees, colorful aspens and lovely Columbine flowers. Play across mountains and through valleys with lush wildlife, pristine ponds, lakes and rivers, with strategic sand bunkers and other hazards strategically placed along the course.

After playing a memorable 18 holes, you can head to the clubhouse for one of Colorado’s frothy craft brews, an imaginative cocktail, small plates or a multi-course meal. At many of the state’s top golf destinations you can hit the driving range or putting green, or just kick back, enjoy the scenery, and talk about your last round.

See 5 Professional Sports Teams

Colorado has five professional sports teams. The Denver Broncos are three-time Super Bowl champions and one of the most recognizable teams in all of sports. Empower Field at Mile High is one of the NFL’s nicest stadiums and there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

Denver’s basketball team, the Nuggets, first played in the iconic ABA before margining into the NBA in the mid-1970s. The Nuggets play home games at Ball Arena (formerly Pepsi Center) and are playoff contenders every season.

Another staple at Ball Arena is the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche. Hockey fans may recall the old Quebec Nordiques, who relocated to Denver in 1995 and became the Avalanche. The team has won two Stanley Cups in the team’s relatively short history. There’s never a dull moment at an Avalanche game!

The pride of Denver might be it’s MLB team, the Colorado Rockies, who play their home games at Coors Field. The verdant green grass coupled with the classic sights and sounds of the ballpark blend seamlessly with the cool Colorado summer nights. From sunny day games to night games set across a perfectly purple sky, a Rockies game can’t be beat.

Colorado’s newest professional sports team is the Colorado Rapids in the MLS. The Major League Soccer team kicked off operations for the 1996 season. The team plays in the cutthroat Western Conference. Home games are held at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the Denver suburb of Commerce City. The Rapids won the MLS Cup in 2010 and compete for the title every season.

Catching a game is a wonderful way to cut loose after a long day in a conference room or boardroom. Schedule a party bus or group transportation to the game and arrange a group deal on tickets so everyone can sit together and cheer in unison. There are also many great spots around the stadium where you can pre-game. After the game, take your ride back to the hotel or head downtown for a nightcap!

Dude Ranches and Horseback Riding

Need more inspiration? There are unique activities like dude ranches and horseback riding that encompass the true spirit of the American West. The state offers countless adventures that will have you and your team on horseback, twisting and turning along mountain switchbacks on your way to a mountainside campfire and cookout. Learn about the rich history of the West as you clip-clop along on your trusted steed. At your campsite, enjoy a hearty Western dinner that’s more than a can of beans – think steak and potatoes with all the classic country trimmings, grilled to perfection on a blazing fire.

Dude ranches provide a slice of life you won’t get anywhere else. If you’re cooped up in the city, just seeing and petting one of the beautiful horses can be therapeutic. A relaxing horse ride allows you to bond with your horse, hang with friends and colleagues, and take in the splendor of the mountains all at the same time. There are enjoyable dude ranches only about an hour from Denver and Colorado Springs, as well as a few at mountain destinations and in the central and southwest part of the state.
