The Colorado Chautauqua National Historic Landmark (NHL) is the only continuously operating Chautauqua west of the Mississippi and one of only two NHL’s in Colorado to offer lodging and events. We are situated in one of America’s most photographed locations at the foot of Boulder’s Flatirons mountains – just 45 minutes from Denver International Airport and close to downtown Boulder’s renowned dining and shopping. They include two early 20th Century lodges (Missions House Lodge and the Mary H. Galey Cottage) which combine reception and meeting space with comfortable accommodations; perfect for Petite Weddings and smaller Executive Retreats. For larger groups, Chautauqua’s galleried Grand Assembly Hall – beautifully restored in 2022 with state-of -the art furnishings, lighting and AV resources – and 59 stand-alone cottages, deliver exceptional charm and privacy.

Guests will appreciate the history and galleried grandeur of our recently restored 1918 Grand Assembly Hall with its own verandah and the impressive stonework and outdoor heritage of the Rocky Mountain Climbers Club. Guests for events in these spaces can stay in any of our 62 cottages and lodges. If you are hosting a smaller event such as a petite wedding, family reunion, or board retreat, Missions House Lodge and the Mary H. Galey Cottage are ideal choices. Missions House Lodge can host up to 35 and sleep up to 16 and Mary H. Galey Cottage can host up to 40 and sleep up to 12. Mary H. Galey Cottage events can also spill outside onto the cottage’s two decks with gorgeous Boulder and Flatirons views. For outdoor events like picnics and cocktail parties, enjoy the views of the Flatirons from the Auditorium Terrace and Grand Assembly Hall verandah, or host a casual event in our picnic shelter adjacent to one of Boulder’s most popular trails. Our lodging team will help you put together the best accommodation mix for your group’s size and preferences. Choices include 59 stand-alone cottages in studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom configurations (several are fully ADA accessible). Each cottage has a distinctive personality where charming vintage touches like screened-in porches and colorful fridges blend with modern comforts like new beds and sustainable heating and cooling. When your group is not dining together, each cottage has a fully equipped kitchen. New for 2022 are cost-effective studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments in our recently updated Columbine Lodge.
Groups who prefer to lodge together may opt for 1911 Missions House Lodge. This sleeps up to 16 in eight, en-suite bedrooms and hosts up to 35 in its spacious, wood-paneled reception space. Another favorite is the sustainably restored Mary H. Galey Cottage. This sleeps 12 and hosts up to 40 with a state-of-the-art marble kitchen, concealed elevator, and two stunning outdoor decks overlooking Boulder and the Flatirons.

The 1918 Grand Assembly Hall was beautifully restored in 2022 with new lighting, furnishings, and the latest AV setup. It has its own covered verandah and separate Bride and Grooms rooms to make your day flow smoothly. All our venues make it extra easy and great value for couples by including all linens, furnishings, AV equipment, and tableware. For those who prefer an outdoor ceremony or reception, the terrace by our famous Auditorium with stunning Flatirons views will fit the bill. Chautauqua is also accustomed to providing lodging and receptions for other Colorado ceremony venues such as churches, civil weddings, and the City of Boulder’s Chautauqua Green and Sunrise Amphitheater. Our simple wedding packages, with catering from Chautauqua’s exclusive catering partner Three Leaf Concepts, offer ample choices while making it easy for you to compare prices and amenities. It doesn’t stop there. Our team can also suggest local hair-dressing, make-up, spa services, and floral suppliers to determine suitable hikes on our trails and work with you on customized group experiences.
