Executive Retreats In Colorado

Executive retreats in Colorado create productive, balanced experiences with the feel of getting away. The inspiring destinations of Colorado lure in seekers of adventure, peaceful surroundings, new thrills, and everything in between. No matter the time of year, Colorado is ready for you. Winter months are filled with skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and sleigh rides, among much more. The summer is just as bountiful with activities like hiking, biking, golf, horseback riding and hot air balloon rides. And nothing fosters teamwork like rafting down the raging Colorado river on a raft.

Fill each day with curated experiences that go beyond the ordinary. While this state is known for outdoor adventures and constant activity, it also knows how to slow down, relax and bring people together in genuinely memorable ways. Colorado retreats are ideal for creating connections and collaboration through authentic experiences. Here are a few of our absolute favorites for productive executive retreats in Colorado.

Mountain Venues

Nestled among the various mountain ranges in the state are a number of lavish cities filled with everything from lively adventures to rejuvenating spas that are perfect for executive retreats in Colorado. Aspen is the archetypal Rocky Mountain city, replete with lavish hotels, lodges, and five star restaurants, but still retains its charming mining town attributes. There are four mountains in the city (Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass) that offer various skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, or snowmobiling options.

Hotels in Aspen range from cozy and quaint to large resorts, each where you can find conference rooms and services to meet your company’s needs.

Two hours from Denver, in the northwest region of the state, is the town of Vail. This single-mountain town is famed for its grandiose resorts that flourish during the winter and summer. November through April, people gather here from all over the world to take advantage of the exceptional city and skiing. The summer months lure in both locals and visitors who enjoy the world class golf-courses, shopping and superb outdoor activities nearby. This alpine village resembles the opulent resort areas found in the European Alps. This exquisite destination is adorned with heated cobblestone streets, five-star restaurants, boutiques and a vibrant nightlife.

City Venues

Venues in Colorado’s major cities like Denver, Boulder or Fort Collins in the Front Range region are excellent choices for conventions, or meetings with guests that are traveling from the U.S. or internationally. Denver’s airport services flights from almost everywhere worldwide and is conveniently located to many hotel options by the airport or in the city.

Downtown Denver has meeting venues for every group size and style. Boutique hotels offer smaller meeting spaces while more sizable hotels and convention centers offer large spaces for bigger groups, events and conferences. Entertainment in the Mile High City can be found around every corner. Catch a Rockies game at Coors Field, tour one of the many local breweries, go to the theater, or watch the sunset from the rooftop of one of the city’s incredible restaurants.

If you want the city vibe without the hustle and bustle, cities like Durango or Glenwood Springs are excellent prospects. One of Colorado’s oldest towns, Durango has a history with deep and esteemed roots in the mining expansion of the Old West. Ride a steam train up the mountain to the town of Silverton, or whitewater raft along the Animas or Piedra Rivers. In Glenwood Springs, explore the world’s largest hot springs pool, or take the group for a day at the Glenwood Canyons Adventure Park where you ride a swing over the gorgeous Glenwood Canyon, should you be so brave. The city venues place many locally owned restaurants, hotels, cafes, and activities close to each other, providing convenience for your guests attending executive retreats in Colorado.

Team Building Yoga Outdoors

Golf

Colorado’s world-class golf courses allow the team to come together in a relaxing environment, away from the daily noise of phones, cars, and busy life. The state has an abundance of unique and world-class courses to choose from and you can enjoy year round golfing in nearly every part of our state. Enjoy amazing scenery from tee to green on the Mountain-style courses near Vail, Steamboat Springs and Telluride.

Near Denver, there are noteworthy forest-style golf courses where you will find greens that incorporate groves of aspen, wetlands and lakes. There are private, semi-private, and public courses that intertwine with towering ponderosa pines, some of which have been turned into blind corners and hidden hazards.

In Colorado, we love to be outside and enjoy the year-round beautiful weather so you will find many business meetings taking place on the course. On the golf course, interpersonal relationships develop. The inclusive aspect of golf allows everyone of all ages to participate, ultimately extending team relationships between the younger and older employees.

Downhill Snow Skiing

Colorado’s ski scene is one of the most sought-after winter destinations worldwide. From November through April (and sometimes longer), the state offers your group an experience that is both serene and electrifying. Whether learning on the bunny slope or tackling black-diamond trails, Colorado’s resorts have something for everyone in your group.

The ski resorts offer lessons which can be reserved for your team, a chance to foster team-building skills or just have a good laugh. No matter your group’s ski level, being outside in our fresh air and beautiful mountain scenery will bring your team joy and an after-ski glow. In the late afternoon, everyone can gather around a warm fire to enjoy après as they laugh and talk about their day.

Many ski resorts are located near major hub airports, lodging, local entertainment, and restaurants. Make use of their luxurious conference spaces in the morning before you hit the slopes in the afternoon. Many hotels offer easy ski-in, ski-out chairlifts right from your hotel. Equipment rentals are readily available if needed. If you’re looking for a less populated resort than most, Telluride is a magnificent go-to. Here where you can find full-service resorts, stunning ski trails, with a lovely city your guests will never want to leave.

River Rafting in Colorado

Whitewater Rafting

Colorado’s rivers roar to life around each April as the snow begins to melt in the mountains. As the rapids reach their peaks, beginners and experienced enthusiasts all come together under the blue skies to experience thrilling rides between canyon walls throughout the state.

Whitewater rafting trips are a unique way to get your team together to learn the importance of working together and the role communication plays in effectively accomplishing anything that comes their way. Rafting excursions can be scheduled per your scheduling for half or full-day trips. If your group is up to the adventure, plan a multi-day trip down the Yampa River.

Experience the colorful canyon walls, watch the murky Yampa and crystal clear Green River merging into each other, and paddle through the wild, free-flowing rapids. At night it becomes so mysteriously dark, the Milky Way is highly visible, shining so bright, it reflects off the sandstone canyon walls, immersing you in a rare phenomenon few have witnessed.

Dude Ranches

There is almost no better view of the mountains than the one you’ll see from between a horse’s ears as you sit back in the saddle, breathing in that sweet, early morning mountain air. Discover the inner cowboy, or cowgirl, in each of your team members while experiencing the western heart of a dude ranch for executive retreats in Colorado.

Dude ranches can be exclusively customized to the needs of you and your team. During the summer months, all-inclusive packages are available. You can find ranches that provide private luxury cabins or lodges for team members. Meals are well prepared and served family-style. They’re not all dirt, Colorado Dude ranches offer pools, hot tubs, spas and bars … or saloons.

Schedule according to your plans with the options for day trips, a few days, or a week. Activities like learning horsemanship and horseback trail rides are instrumental in learning teamwork and conflict resolution while in a relaxing environment. Assisting with the daily ranch chores, calf roping, or competing in rodeo games or the Cowboy Olympics are exciting and compelling methods for team building, improving communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

At some ranches, you and the team can relax hard-worked muscles in the spa, receiving five-star treatment, leaving you feeling rejuvenated.

Vineyards, Wineries & Distilleries

Colorado has a reputation for nonstop outdoor adventure excursions but there is a new outdoor endeavor that is quickly establishing itself in the Colorado landscape: vineyards and distilleries. In between all the action-packed adventures and meetings, delight in a group tour of one of Colorado’s many vineyards or wineries.

A golden opportunity for leisure, and bonding, sample the many wines produced by the vineyard and enjoy light bites and swell conversations. Distinctive to Colorado’s vineyards, the grapes are grown at some of the highest elevations in the world. During the fall, the season peaks, and festivals are thrown in celebration.

While you can find vineyards and wineries throughout the state, the Grand Valley/Palisade area takes the lead with their bold chardonnay that is a must-try. Denver’s has a few famous distilleries, like Stranahan’s, which is just one stop on Denver’s Spirit Trail, a tour of various distilleries around the city.

Hot Air Ballooning

If heights don’t scare you, experience Colorado in a way few have – high above the mountain peaks as the sun rises, in the basket of a hot air balloon. Many companies are conveniently located near Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs. For meetings and retreats taking place in or around these areas, an early morning hot air balloon tour over the state is the perfect way to start the day. Everyone will be spellbound by the mesmerizing views of the gorges, and chasms, mountain peaks, cliffs, and landscape from this bird’s-eye view.

Flight season ranges from May to October on average, as wind conditions are optimal. The flight lasts approximately an hour – due to quickly changing weather, which is monitored with extreme caution. Hot air balloon trips are suitable for smaller groups, as there are limits to the number of people allowed per basket. If lucky, you or a team member may even get the chance to fly the balloon!
