Destination Longmont

By Erin Helzer

Meeting planners are always looking for something new, different and buzzworthy to offer clients. A short drive north from Denver takes meetings and events to another level and with unique twists. With two brand-new venues and distinct group outings, Longmont is quickly becoming the must-visit destination for groups in 2017.

New Event Venues

One of the state’s largest brewers, Oskar Blues Brewery, recently added The Oak Room, a 4,275-square-foot event space located within its Longmont brewery and overlooking an oak barrel aging room. Along with offering guests a private bar, 24-foot projection TV, sound system, personal entrance and custom-made oak furniture, The Oak Room allows up to 280 guests to enjoy an exclusive party behind the scenes. Serve culinary creations from Oskar Blues’ three local restaurants and drink from the company’s beverage lines that include sodas, coffee and, of course, Colorado craft beer.

Unique Group Outings

Colorado is well-known for its craft beer, so why not offer a group outing that goes to Longmont’s 11 craft brewers, one of four distilleries and a downtown cidery? The Brewhop Trolley is a hop on/hop off trolley service providing an enjoyable and unique way to see Longmont. Stopping by taphouses and tasting rooms throughout the city, riders visit and tour well-known breweries, as well as some hidden gems. Private charters are available to help groups craft a custom-made adventure.

Looking for something more hands on? Try hosting a cheesemaking class at Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy, a local brewery or even an event venue. The Art of Cheese is a local, artisan cheesemaking school where guests learn more about the art and science of making cheese as well as get their hands a little messy. Pair the class with a local beer, wine or cider to create an unforgettable experience.
